The ‘A Quiet Place: Day One’ Official Trailer Has Dropped and I’m Worried About the Cat

I’m simple. I see a cat in a horror movie setting and I’m immediately stressed out. The first “A Quiet Place: Day One” official trailer dropped and it looks like it’s going to be equally as catastrophic as the two films before it with Djimon Hounsou, Joseph Quinn, Alex Wolff, and Lupita Nyong’o set to star.

The full plot breakdown remains unknown but the tagline for the film has been teasing moviegoers to “experience the day the world went quiet.” For the first time in the universe, John Krasinski is not directing, and Michael Sarnoski has taken over the helm. Sarnoski also wrote the screenplay for this one with the story by Krasinski and Sarnoski based on characters created by Bryan Woods and Scott Beck.

In the trailer, we see glimpses of the previous “A Quiet Place” films as a countdown goes down to day 1. On a busy and noisy day in New York City, we see Lupita’s character walking around the city cradling a cat when she looks up to the sky and notices objects begin to rain down. All hell breaks loose naturally as the creatures invade the city. My immediate question was: What is going to happen to the CAT?!

The first “A Quiet Place” was released in 2018 and followed a family struggling to survive in a world where most humans have been killed by blind but noise-sensitive creatures and starred John Krasinski, Emily Blunt, Millicent Simmonds, Noah Jupe, and Cade Woodward. The sequel came a few years later in 2020 and served as a continuation with Cillian Murphy and Djimon Hounsou joining the cast.

“A Quiet Place: Day One” comes to theaters on June 28, 2024.
