Viewers Can’t Wait For The “Mother Off” In ‘Mothers’ Instinct’ Starring Jessica Chastain and Anne Hathaway

On Tuesday, StudioCanal UK revealed the official trailer for the upcoming psychological thriller “Mothers’ Instinct” starring Academy Award winners Jessica Chastain and Anne Hathaway. The moment social media caught wind of the trailer viewers declared the film to be the ultimate “mother off.” IYKYK.

The source material of “Mothers’ Instinct” comes from the 2012 novel of the same name by Barbara Abel. The book was turned into a 2018 Belgium film directed by Olivier Masset-Depasse and starring Veerle Baetens and Anne Coesens as the lead actors.

Directed by Benoît Delhomme and written by Barbara Abel and Sarah Conradt, the 2024 film follows Alice (Chastian) and Celine (Hathaway), two best friends and neighbors who live in a picturesque suburbia in the ’60s. Tragedy shakes up their lives and friendship when Celine’s son dies in an untimely accident. What follows is a “gripping battle of wills” as the “darker side of maternal love” is revealed.

“Mothers’ Instinct” is expected to premiere in the UK soon, but a US date has yet to be revealed.
