Who doesn’t love a romantic comedy? For me the more cliche the better. That’s what makes them so endearing. This past week I really tapped into Christmas rom-coms on Prime Video and Freevee and watched three that I really enjoyed so I’m sharing them with you this holiday season.

In “EXmas” Graham (Robbie Amell) has always put work first until one Christmas he decides to come home to surprise his family – parents Dennis (Michael Hitchcock) and Jeannie (Kathryn Greenwood), sister Mindy (Veronika Slowikowska), and brother Elliott (Steven Huy). The only thing is once Graham gets home he soon realizes his ex-fiancee Ali (Leighton Meester) is already there and has been in constant contact with his family.

Graham sets out to show his family that Ali should no longer be in contact with them and in true holiday rom-com fashion schemes and personal revelations are revealed. I found this movie not only hilarious but Leighton to be charming to the point where I was wondering why she hasn’t been in more rom-coms. “EXmas” is a good watch the add to your list this season. (Watch on Freevee.)

“Your Christmas or Mine” finds James (Asa Butterfield) and Hayley (Cora Kirk) as a young couple very much in love but heading home separately to spend time with family. At the last minute, James decides to switch trains and surprise Hayley by going home with her, but Hayley has the same idea and takes the train to James’ hometown. It’s Christmas Eve-Eve and the pair experience each other’s family Christmases while they get to know their partner better.

Hayley’s traditional and sentimental Christmas consists of dad and mom Geoff (Daniel Mays) and Kath (Angela Griffin), aunt Kaye (Natalie Gumede), her Granddad (Ram John Holder), her Nan (June Watson), and her younger brothers Ant (Ashton Wray) and Dec (Harris Kiiza). Over at James’ house, things are more bleak with his dad Humphrey (Alex Jennings) bitter with his wife’s passing, mysterious neighbor Jack (David Bradley), and housekeeper Iris (Harriet Walter). Hayley and James end up getting to spend the holidays together despite all the obstacles. (Watch on Prime Video.)

The sequel to “Your Christmas or Mine” finds James (Asa Butterfield) and Hayley (Cora Kirk) spending Christmas together with their families on a skiing holiday in “Your Christmas or Mine 2.” Most of the entire cast from the first film returns with Jane Krakowski joining the cast as Diane, Humphrey’s rich American girlfriend and Rhea Norwood as Bea, James’ childhood friend. Again Christmases are swapped. James and his family end up spending time at a rundown ski dwelling while Hayley and her family stay at a lavish resort.

This sequel made me want a winter wonderland ski trip at some point in my life during Christmas and really made me love Asa and Cora as an onscreen couple. I would love to see them in not only more holiday rom-coms but a third installment of this franchise. (Watch on Prime Video.)
