Happy Birthday Ryan Gosling!

The beloved Canadian dreamboat that is Ryan Gosling turns 43 today. His career in the industry has spanned 30 years from starring in The All New Mickey Mouse Club in 1993, getting his first acting credit by appearing on the 1995 Are You Afraid of the Dark episode “The Tale of Station 109.1,” charming hearts as Young Hercules in 1998, and making them swoon as Noah in “The Notebook” in 2004.

Recently, Ryan proved he was Kenough playing Ken in the live-action “Barbie” movie and got himself a Grammy nomination (Best Song Written For Visual Media) for “I’m Just Ken.” I’ve watched a lot of Ryan Gosling movies and to celebrate his special day I want to recommend some of my favs. Below are 5 Ryan Gosling movie recommendations from Glambergirlblog.

La La Land” (2016)
From the moment I saw “La La Land” in theaters, I was utterly obsessed. Mia (Emma Stone) is a struggling actress and Sebastian (Gosling) is a struggling jazz pianist. They fall in love in the City of Stars, but the journey to reaching your dreams takes sacrifice. This movie is a spellbinding film for dreamers and I love it so much. (Watch on Netflix)

“The Nice Guys” (2016)
If folks need any convincing on how hilarious Ryan Gosling can be then I urge them to watch “The Nice Guys.” In 1970s Los Angeles, private investigators Jackson Healy (Russell Crowe) and Holland March (Gosling) team up to investigate the disappearance of Amelia (Margaret Qualley) and the death of a porn star. Please put Ryan in more comedies. (Watch on Netflix)

“Crazy, Stupid, Love” (2011)
A look at love from all angles is on display in “Crazy, Stupid, Love.” Cal (Steve Carell) and his wife Emily (Julianne Moore) are on the brink of divorce when a stylish ladies’ man named Jacob (Gosling) inserts himself into Cal’s life to help him regain his manhood. Jacob meets Hannah (Emma Stone) along the way and falls in love. The interconnecting story is what makes this film a perfect rom-com. (Available for digital rental)

“All Good Things” (2010)
Showing off a dramatic side of his talent Gosling plays David Marks, a real estate heir who is suspected of his killing his wife Katie (Kirsten Dunst) in 1982 in “All Good Things.” This was the first Ryan movie I saw where he played a horrible person. David was abusive and manipulative and Ryan played the hell out of this role showing he’s more than a handsome face. (Watch on Hulu)

“Blue Valentine” (2010)
My last recommendation is “Blue Valentine,” a bittersweet look at how a couple can fall in and out of love and all the circumstances that play a role. Gosling plays Dean and Michelle Williams earned an Oscar nomination playing Cindy. “Blue Valentine” is such a real insight into a love story that’s not only heartwarming but heartbreaking. Ryan and Michelle did a lot of prep to play a believable couple and it shows on screen. (Watch on Max)
