Doja Cat is back and she’s demanding all eyes on her.
“Attention” is the new single from the 27-year-old artist who last year insisted she was retiring from music after unfavorable comments about her circulated online following canceling a performance. I’m glad Doja Cat worked through that moment because I enjoy her music and creativity as a musician.
The new single is expected to be from an unknown titled upcoming album and combines the sound fans are used to hearing from her while addressing all the social commentary said about her. Rocking a blonde shortcut, low-rise jeans, a leather duster jacket, and a white mini crop top, Doja raps down the city street dodging haters, fans, and passersby taking a stroll in the Tanu Muino-directed visual and creative direction from Brett Alan Nelson.
I like the track. I did need to listen to it a few times and watch the video a bit before I started to vibe with “Attention,” but it’s very hypnotizing. I love the chorus and the lyrics pack a punch as Doja comments on the state of her music and what people are saying about her. I look forward to hearing how this track fits with a full body of work. Previous Doja Cat studio albums include Planet Her (2021), Hot Pink (2019), and Amala (2019)
