Ti West has been a name synonymous with horror for quite some time. His 2009 film “The House of the Devil,” 2011 film “The Innkeepers,” and 2012 film “V/H/S” has been some of the stand-out cult classics in horror, but when West introduced a soon-to-be iconic horror trilogy with “X” in 2022 he solidified himself in the spooky genre.
“X” was set in 1979 and followed “a group of young filmmakers set out to make an adult film in rural Texas, but when their reclusive, elderly hosts catch them in the act, the cast find themselves fighting for their lives.” Mia Goth, Kid Cudi, Jenna Ortega, Brittany Snow, Martin Henderson, and Owen Campbell starred in the film with Goth performing dual roles as Maxine, an aspiring star, and Pearl, an old woman whose dreams of stardom faded away. “Pearl,” the next chapter of the saga, came later in 2022 and that told the backstory of Pearl with Goth reprising the role.
Currently in production, “MaXXXine,” the final chapter, “follows Maxine, who was the only survivor of the bloody incidents of X, as she continues her journey towards fame to be an actress in 1980s Los Angeles.” The first official look for “MaXXXine” came on Monday, May 1 when the A24 Twitter account posted a photo of Goth and Halsey in character with the caption “The life she deserves #MaXXXine.”

Giancarlo Esposito, Michelle Monaghan, Elizabeth Debicki, Kevin Bacon, Lily Collins, Bobby Cannavale, Moses Sumney, and Cecilia Kim make up the rest of the “MaXXXine” cast. Since the film is in the early stages of production a theatrical release date is not expected until 2024.
