‘Scream VI’ Had The Biggest Opening In The Franchise and Is The Best One To Date

When I think about horror movie franchises there are a few that come to mind that are my favorites. The “Saw” movies would be number one, followed by the “Final Destination” films, Chucky, and then the “Scream” movies, but I didn’t realize how much I truly enjoyed the “Scream” franchise until seeing “Scream VI” in theaters during its March 10th opening weekend. The sixth installment was the biggest opening ever for the Scream franchise, bringing in $44.5 million at the domestic box office.

The “Scream” films are movies for people who love horror movies and often play on the cliche troupes that are featured in many films of the genre, but what “Scream VI” does well is take all those troupes and maximize them with gore and humor in a way only the franchise can do.

Following the events of the 2022 “Scream,” Sam Carpenter (Melissa Barrera) and her sister Tara (Jenna Ortega) along with Tara’s friends Mindy (Jasmin Savoy Brown) and Chad (Mason Gooding) leave Woodsboro as four survivors attempting to start fresh in New York City after the latest killing spree, but Ghostface has other intentions in mind. Hayden Panettiere and Courteney Cox reprise their roles as Kirby Reed and Gale Weathers in the film with Jack Champion, Henry Czerny, Liana Liberato, Dermot Mulroney, Devyn Nekoda, Tony Revolori, Josh Segarra, and Samara Weaving joining the cast.
