Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston are back reprising their roles as Nick and Audrey Spitz from the 2019 hit Netflix Original movie “Murder Mystery.”
In “Murder Mystery” Sandler plays Nick, a New York City cop who goes on a long overdue Euro vacation with his wife Audrey (Aniston). During their extended flight, Audrey meets a handsome stranger, played by Luke Evans, who later invites the couple to a lavish yacht party. The trip is going well for the couple until billionaire Malcolm Quince (Terence Stamp) is murdered and Nick and Audrey get framed for the murder. In an effort to do everything they can to clear their names, hilarity ensues. I remember being thoroughly entertained watching this movie, but I forgot all the details and will have to watch it again before the sequel.
Four years later, we find Nick and Audrey Spitz as full-time detectives struggling to get their private eye agency off the ground in “Murder Mystery 2.” The pair get invited to a private island to celebrate the wedding of friend Maharaja (Adeel Akhtar) but he gets kidnapped. Nick and Audrey see this as a perfect opportunity to prove themselves as serious detectives if only they can crack the case.
Directed by Jeremy Garelick and written by James Vanderbilt (who wrote “Murder Mystery”); Mark Strong, Mélanie Laurent, Jodie Turner-Smith, Kuhoo Verma, John Kani, and Dany Boon also star in “Murder Mystery 2,” streaming on Netflix on March 31.
