Fans of That ’70s Show watched the teenage mishaps of Eric, Donna, Kelso, Jackie, Hyde, and Fez (Topher Grace, Laura Prepon, Ashton Kutcher, Mila Kunis, Danny Masterson, and Wilmer Valderrama) while living in Point Place, Wisconsin from 1998-2006 in the beloved series created by Mark Brazill, Bonnie Turner, and Terry Turner.
A previous failed attempt by FOX at a spin-off left fans wary that Netflix could attempt to recreate the magic of the ’70s with their revival of the series in That ’90s Show; myself included. The official trailer for That ’90s Show didn’t give me much hope but after binging the 10-episode series, which premiered on January 19 on Netflix, I was completely surprised at how much I truly enjoyed and loved the series.
That ’90s Show takes fans back to Point Place at the start of July 1995. Leia Forman (Callie Haverda) – daughter of Eric and Donna, heads to her grandparents Red and Kitty’s (Kurtwood Smith and Debra Jo Rupp) house with her parents for the Fourth of July holiday. There she meets fellow teenage neighbor Gwen (Ashley Aufderheide) and Gwen’s group of Point Place friends: her half-brother Nate (Maxwell Acee Donovan) and his girlfriend Nikki (Sam Morelos), Jay Kelso (Mace Coronel), and Ozzie (Reyn Doi). The story picks up from there.
Filled with legacy characters, That ’70s Show callbacks, and unexpected laughter, That ’90s Show exceeded my expectations. Read my full review via Popternative.com HERE.
