Rom-Coms Return With Upcoming Films ‘Your Place Or Mine’ and ‘Somebody I Used to Know’ [Trailers]

It’s the return of the rom-com this February and just in time for Valentine’s Day. The romantic comedy genre is so deeply missed by many and next month two streaming services are bringing films that might pique your interest.

Reese Witherspoon and Ashton Kutcher star as Debbie and Peter in Netflix’s “Your Place or Mine.” Written and directed by Aline Brosh McKenna, Debbie and Peter are two long-distance best friends – Debbie lives in LA and Peter lives in New York, who decide to swap homes for a week. Debbie heads to the city that never sleeps to pursue a lifelong dream while Peter agrees to look after her teenage son in the city of angels. In rom-com fashion, the pair discover their friendship might be something more.

Wesley Kimmel, Steve Zahn, Rachel Bloom, Zoe Chao, Jesse Williams, Shiri Appleby, and Tig Notaro all appear in “Your Place or Mine.”

In “Somebody I Used to Know,” Alison Brie stars as workaholic Ally who travels to her hometown and runs into her ex Sean, played by Jay Ellis in the Prime Video original film. While going down memory lane, Ally questions what could have been with Sean and who she could have been when she meets Sean’s fiancé Cassidy (Kiersey Clemons). This movie title makes me think this film could be about Ally finding herself and she is the somebody in “Somebody I Used to Know.” Brie co-wrote the movie with her husband and fellow actor Dave Franco. Franco also directed the film, his second full feature.

Danny Pudi, Olga Merediz, Haley Joel Osment, Julie Hagerty, and Ayden Mayeri appear in “Somebody I Used to Know.”

“Your Place Or Mine” streams on Netflix and “Somebody I Used to Know” streams on Prime Video, both on Friday, February 10.
