We’re going back to Wisconsin, but this time instead of the ’70s we’ll get a taste of Wisconsin in the ’90s in the upcoming Netflix original series That ’90s Show, a spin-off of That ’70s Show.
From 1998 -2006 That ’70s Show chronicled the lives of Eric Forman (Topher Grace) and his friends growing up in 1970s Wisconsin as they hung out in his basement, smoked pot, and navigated adolescence under the guidance of Eric’s strict father Red (Kurtwood Smith) and his loving mother Kitty (Debra Jo Rupp). There was a short-lived spin-off called That ’80s show in 2002 that tried to keep the successful formula of the sitcom going, but it didn’t hold up.
Now it’s 1995 in the spin-off and Leia Forman (Callie Haverda) – Donna and Eric’s daughter, is “desperate for some adventure in her life or at least a best friend who isn’t her dad. When she arrives in Point Place to visit her grandparents, Red and Kitty, Leia finds what she’s looking for right next door when she meets the dynamic and rebellious Gwen,” played by Ashley Aufderheide. After being introduced to Gwen’s brother Nate (Maxwell Donovan) and the rest of her friends Nikki (Sam Morelos), Ozzie (Reyn Doi), and Jay (Mace Coronel) – Kelso and Jackie’s son, Leia falls into a new group of friends that rival her parents.
Kurtwood Smith and Debra Jo Rupp are back as Red and Kitty along with Topher Grace, Mila Kunis, Ashton Kutcher, Laura Prepon, and Wilmer Valderrama aka Eric, Jackie, Felso, Donna, and Fez appearing as special guests in the series. The official trailer gave us first looks at what the cast looks like in the ’90s.
That 90’s Show streams on Netflix on Thursday, January 19, 2023.
