Yellowjackets is returning to Showtime for a second season in early 2023.
Created by Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson, Yellowjackets premiered November 2021 and takes place in two different timelines, mid ’90s and in the present day, and has actors that play the teen and adult versions of the characters in the series. The show follows a “wildly talented” high school girls’ soccer team whose lives are in peril when their plane crashes in the remote northern wilderness. Decades later, the few survivors of the ordeal continue to adjust to life after what happened to them in the wild, but some secrets created during that time bleed into their present day.
Season one earned the series 7 Primetime Emmys nominations including nods for Melanie Lynskey for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series, Outstanding Drama Series, Christina Ricci for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series, and Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series.
Along with Lynskey and Ricci, Tawny Cypress, Ella Purnell, Sophie Nélisse, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Sophie Thatcher, Samantha Hanratty, Steven Krueger, Warren Kole, Juliette Lewis, Courtney Eaton, Liv Hewson, Keeya King, Kevin Alves, Alexa Barajas, Jane Widdop, and Luciano Leroux appeared in the first season. Lauren Ambrose, Simone Kessel, and Elijah Wood will join the cast in season two.
Yellowjackets season two streams Friday March 24 on Showtime Anytime and on demand and airs live on Sunday, March 26 on cable. Season one of Yellowjackets is available now on Showtime and Showtime Anytime.
