It’s never easy to break out of a toxic relationship, but the key to it all is a sense of self and a good support system to back you up. In “Alice, Darling” Anna Kendrick plays Alice, a woman stuck in an abusive relationship with Simon (Charlie Carrick) until an intervention is staged between her closest friends Sophie (Wunmi Mosaku) and Tess (Kaniehtiio Horn).
Directed by Mary Nighy and written by Alanna Francis, “Alice Darling” also shows how Alice “rediscovers the essence of herself and gains some much-needed perspective. Slowly, she starts to fray the cords of codependency that bind her. But Simon’s vengeance is as inevitable as it is shattering – and, once unleashed, it tests Alice’s strength, her courage, and the bonds of her deep-rooted friendships.”
“Alice, Darling” comes to LA theaters on December 30 and nationwide on January 20, 2023.
