The Guardians of the Galaxy Get A Disney+ Holiday Special Out of This World

The Guardians of the Galaxy are heading to Earth this holiday season.

Written and directed by James Gunn, “Star-Lord, Drax, Rocket, Mantis, and Groot engage in some spirited shenanigans” in the Disney+ original The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special. I can’t tell if this is going to be a limited series or if this special will be in the form of a film? Either way, I’m on board because The Guardians are my favorite part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, MCU.

In the holiday special, Peter Quill (Chris Pratt) is still feeling the loss of Gamora (Zoe Saldana). Kraglin (Sean Gunn) mentions back on Earth the holidays are coming up and insists the Guardians: Drax (Dave Bautista), Rocket (Bradley Cooper), Groot (Vin Diesel), Nebula (Karen Gillan), and Mantis (Pom Klementieff) do something to make Quill feel better about his broken heart and not being on Earth during Christmas. Drax and Mantis travel to Hollywood to get one of Quill’s icons Kevin Bacon as a gift along with the Guardians exchanging gifts and good fortune during the most wonderful time of the year.

This will be one of the few times we’ll get to see the Guardians before their MCU saga is supposed to wrap up next year. “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” is slated to premiere in theaters May 5, 2023 and will put the Guardians on a mission that means the end of the team if not successful. A first look at Comic-Con 2022 teased Vol. 3 and reports said the film will be extremely emotional. I’m not ready, but until then we’ll get this awesome holiday special.
