The 2022 Best Witches Of Pop Culture [Glamberween]

Ghouls, goblins, and things that go bump in the night are just some of the creatures that are known to lurk during Halloween, but one of the baddest around are witches! They cast spells, they wear black, and they have taken over pop culture for centuries. Witches tend to do that since they have been known to live for quite some time.

No matter what type of witch you prefer: The witches who just came into their powers. The Salem witches who practice mystical chants. The ones that brew around cauldrons. The ones that fly on brooms. The ones that live deep under the sea or the ones that simply look like you and me, we can’t deny witches are all that!

Below are my 2022 best witches of pop culture!

Lynn and Kelly Farmer

Double, Double, Toil and Trouble (Review) - Horror Society

The cutest littlest witches around are Lynn and Kelly from Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen’s 1993 film “Double Double Toil and Trouble.” Mary-Kate and Ashley had such a grip on me growing up and any of their 1990s films are my favorite. Most witches experience a time when they haven’t tapped into their powers and this is the case here. Lynn and Kelly come from a lineage of magic but yet can’t explain the “freaky” things that happen to them until the truth is discovered. Together the girls work their magic to save Aunt Sophia.

“The Craft” witches

The Craft - Movie Review - The Austin Chronicle

Whether it’s light as a feather or stiff as a board, the witches from “The Craft” will always be a staple in pop culture. Robin Tunney, Fairuza Balk, Neve Campbell, and Rachel True brought Sarah, Nancy, Bonnie, and Rochelle to life in the 1996 film about high school prep girls channeling dark magic to make their inner desires come true. That could come in handy today.

Wanda Maximoff aka The Scarlet Witch

Will There Be Wanda Maximoff Variants in 'Doctor Strange 2?' | The Mary Sue

I became a fan of Wanda Maximoff, played perfectly by Elizabeth Olsen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, around the time she really got shine in “Captain America: Civil War.” She really has had a tough break in the MCU losing her twin brother, her love, and her children. All she wants is a little understanding and love. She’s a mutant and a witch and can do no wrong in my book. Go off Scarlet Witch!

The Evil Queen aka Regina Mills

Fabulous hair and fabulous clothes. Whether she’s the Evil Queen or Regina Mills this beauty from Once Upon A Time who once used her powers for bad turned into one of the more redeemable characters on the show. Who doesn’t love a queen who turns her life around?

Grand High Witch

The Witches – Boston Underground Film Festival

I can’t even lie, I loved to hate this film. It was terrifying to see well-put-together women turn into hideous creatures on top of that wanting to turn children into mice. As an adult, I can appreciate the humor in the 1990 film starring Anjelica Huston as the Grand High Witch.

American Horror Story: Coven

AHS Season 8 Will Be Murder House/Coven Crossover - E! Online

Forever my favorite season of American Horror Story! These witches are so great I can’t just pick one. The ladies of Miss Robichaux’s Academy for Exceptional Young Ladies of AHS: Coven will always go on any list I mention about witches. This season has some of the most memorable moments and lines in AHS history. Oh and the themed score for the season haunts my dreams in the best way.

Ursula

10 Fun Facts about Ursula - Celebrations Press

I admit it in the past she’s been a nasty, but this sea witch might be on to something. “The Little Mermaid” iconic “Poor Unfortunate Souls” by Ursula doesn’t tell no lies. To get something you have to give a little something. It’s not her fault that people didn’t read the fine print. It’s giving Virgo vibes.

The Sanderson Sisters

Hocus Pocus 2 Conjures Up a New Synopsis, Poster - and Slightly-Racy Tagline

Honestly, what’s Halloween if you don’t watch “Hocus Pocus” about ten times, reciting all the lines, and singing “I Put A Spell On You” at the top of your lungs. Sistahs! Winifred (Bette Midler), Sarah (Sarah Jessica Parker), and Mary (Kathy Najimy) are forever pop culture goddesses and proved they still got it in the sequel “Hocus Pocus 2” film released this year. Sisters are everything!
