Netflix’s “Blonde” is receiving backlash from the latest iteration of Marilyn Monroe’s life in their film starring Ana de Armas as Monroe.
Based on Joyce Carol Oates’ 2001 bestselling novel Blonde, de Armas plays the Hollywood icon in a film that reimagines the life of Marilyn Monroe “blurring the lines of fact and fiction, the film artfully explores the tension between her public and private life,” says Netflix. Directed and written by Andrew Dominik, “Blonde” has been described as “avalanche of images and events” by Dominik combining disturbing abuse from Monroe’s childhood, stand-out moments from Monroe’s brief career in Hollywood, and all the happenings in between leading up to her untimely death in 1962.
The problem in this film lies in the fictional parts created for shock value and graphic depictions of abortion, according to many comments online. Read my full review of Netflix’s Blonde, streaming now, at Popternative.com HERE.
