“Have you ever wanted to be noticed so badly, you didn’t even care what it was for?” Fame is a hell of a drug. Many are constantly chasing it, but once achieved it might not be everything it’s perceived to be.
In “Not Okay,” Zoey Deutch plays Danni Sanders, “an aimless aspiring writer with no friends, no romantic prospects and — worst of all — no followers.” When she fakes an “Instagram-friendly trip to Paris” hoping to gain social media popularity, she finds herself in hot water when a real horrific event happens in Paris during the time she was allegedly there. In order to maintain her newfound fame, Danni must keep up with the lie, but with cancel culture being a prevalent thing the lie could come to an end sooner than Danni would want.
Dylan O’Brien and Mia Isaac also star in “Not Okay” streaming on Hulu on Friday, July 29.
