Why did it take me almost two months to discover this gem is beyond me, but I’m so glad YouTube suggested it to me. If you watched Stranger Things season 4 then you know there were many stand-out moments. One of those is hands down the use of Kate Bush’s “Running Up That Hill (A Deal with God)” in “Chapter Four: Dear Billy,” but the premiere episode “Chapter One: The Hellfire Club” also had a pivotal moment in the final minutes.
Chrissy (Grace Van Dien) goes back to Eddie Munson’s (Joseph Quinn) trailer for a drug deal. Chrissy has been experiencing major headaches and other troubling aspects of her life she just wants an escape from, but she doesn’t know she’s been marked as Vecna’s (Jamie Campbell Bower) – the villain of season 4 – first victim. Chrissy goes into a trance and is about to get what the fandom deemed “Chrissy cracked,” while Eddie is confused about what’s happening and tries to wake her up.
It definitely was a way to open a season and was unintentionally funny to an extent. I didn’t realize how melodious Eddie was at that moment until The Gregory Brothers put their spin on that scene. Best known for their Auto-Tune the News YouTube series which skyrocketed with the “Bed Intruder Song” in 2010, The Gregory Brothers are comprised of Evan, Andrew, and Michael. They compiled Eddie’s “Chrissy, wake up” line with other moments between Chrissy and Eddie to made an epic song. It’s so catchy and I can’t stop singing it.
Listen to The Gregory Brothers’ “Chrissy, Wake Up” song in the clip below. You can download and stream the song where you listen to music. All my Stranger Things fan out there, how did The Gregory Brothers transform this memorable moment from season 4? Share your thoughts in the comments.
