“The sleaziest love story in all of Hollywood” is coming to HBO and the “sick and twisted minds” of Sam Levinson and Abel Tesfaye aka The Weeknd are behind it. Talk about a way to promote a series.
A first look at The Idol was released over the weekend with the official teaser. The Weeknd stars as a self-help guru and leader of a modern-day cult who embarks on a complicated relationship with rising pop star Jocelyn played by Lily-Rose Depp. The teaser does hold true to the use of “sleaziest” because from the glimpses it does seem this series will be quite raunchy and heavily sexed up. I don’t know about The Weeknd as an actor but I enjoyed Levinson’s work with Euphoria and Netflix’s “Malcolm and Marie,” so I’m willing to give this show at least a one-episode try.
Troye Sivan, Debby Ryan, Hari Nef, Anne Heche, and Elizabeth Berkley are also slated to appear in the series releasing on HBO.
The Idol is slated to be coming soon. In the meantime, watch the official teaser for The Idol in the clip below. Does this look like a show you’d want to watch? Share your thoughts in the comments.
