Regina Hall and Sterling K. Brown starring in a film together will have my attention no matter the subject matter.
Written and directed by Adamma Ebo and Adanne Ebo, Hall and Brown star in the satirical comedic Peacock Original “Honk for Jesus. Save Your Soul.” coming to the streaming service this fall. Hall plays Trinitie Childs and Brown plays her husband Pastor Lee-Curtis Childs. When a scandal erupts and forces their Southern Baptist megachurch to shut down, the pair develops a plan to reopen their church, rebuild their congregation, and restore their reputation.
I must say this synopsis isn’t something that would automatically grab my attention, but I think Regina Hall is one of the best comedic actresses ever, and if nothing else I’ll get laughs from her. Although Sterling K. Brown is more known for his serious side playing Randall Pearson on This Is Us, I know that the funny side is there from seeing his interactions on social media and his iconic guest spot on Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
“Honk for Jesus. Save Your Soul.” streams on Peacock Friday, September 2.
