Beyoncé Releases First Single From ‘Renaissance’ Album – “Break My Soul”

Is House music the official vibe of the summer?

With Drake’s Honestly, Nevermind album and now Beyoncé‘s lead single “Break My Soul” from her upcoming Renaissance album, the electronic dance sound is emerging itself with today’s mainstream artists.

Fans of Beyoncé rejoiced with the announcement of her 7th studio album last week and unexpectedly this week she posted the first single would drop Tuesday at midnight, but of course, it dropped a little earlier. “Break My Soul” is the 6th track off the 16-tracked album which will be released on Friday, July 29. The song features a sample of Big Freedia’s 2014 “Explode” track and Robin S. 1990’s iconic bop “Show Me Love.”

I must admit I don’t know how I feel about this song. The Big Freedia sample is the part I like the most because that will get you up. I’m not mad at this new sound Beyoncé is attempting, but I think I’ll need a visual for me to really get into this. I think it will be interesting to hear the rest of the album and how “Break My Soul” fits in the entire body of work. We’ll find out in a little over a month.
