Marilyn Monroe to this day is one of Hollywood’s most iconic names and most memorable public figures. She’s been portrayed on the big and small screen by several actresses since 1976 including Kelli Garner, Michelle Williams, Poppy Montgomery, Ashley Judd, and Mira Sorvino. Now Ana de Armas is stepping in the blonde bombshell shoes in Netflix’s upcoming, anticipated film “Blonde.”
From director Andrew Dominik, who also wrote the screenplay, the NC-17-rated film is based on Joyce Carol Oates’ 2001 bestselling novel Blonde and will reimagine “the complicated life of icon Marilyn Monroe. Blurring the lines of fact and fiction, the film artfully explores the tension between her public and private life,” says Netflix.
The official teaser trailer opens with a sobbing Marilyn gazing into a mirror pleading to not be abandoned while a makeup artist assures Monroe that “she’s coming.” The clip goes on to feature Monroe’s stand-out career moments while “Diamonds Are A Girl’s Best Friend” plays in the background. The trailer ends with Marilyn all smiles because it is she who has arrived.
“Blonde” streams on Netflix Friday, September 23.
