Who knew I needed a clip of Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans interacting in their upcoming film together on a Tuesday? Netflix and Geeked Week that’s who. The streaming service released an exclusive clip from “The Gray Man” in tandem with Geeked Week – a slotted time for Netflix to roll out exclusive content for their upcoming projects.
In the “Gosling vs. Evans” clip it appears Gosling’s Court Gentry character and Evans’ Lloyd Hansen character are meeting for the first time and under very extreme circumstances. Court is in the middle of fighting when he’s cornered by Lloyd. They exchange hilarious banter until Court drops a grenade creating pandemonium in order for Court to make an escape. It works temporarily until Lloyd catches up with him, but Court has nothing to fear when a beauty and absolute badass like Agent Dani (Ana de Armas) has his back.
One thing I really love about Ryan Gosling is his comedic cadence. It’s evident in his 2016 role as Holland March in “The Nice Guys” and in any interview he does, but I think “The Gray Man” will really showcase it for viewers who may not be familiar on a larger scale.
Directed by Anthony Russo and Joe Russo, “The Gray Man” also stars Regé-Jean Page, Billy Bob Thornton, Jessica Henwick, Dhanush, Wagner Moura and Alfre Woodard. Based on “The Gray Man” novel by Mark Greaney, the film follows a skilled CIA operative (Gosling) becoming a target against a former colleague and being hunted across the globe by Lloyd Hansen (Evans).
“The Gray Man” comes to select theaters on July 15 and streams on Netflix on July 22.
