Every day it may seem like we’re living in a real-life version of a Black Mirror episode, but soon, well maybe not too soon, we’ll be able to escape this reality for another one.

Variety revealed that a new season of Netflix’s cherished Sci-fi series Black Mirror is officially in the works! Yes, after a three-year gap a sixth season is indeed coming to the streaming service. The plot lines for the upcoming season are under wraps, but the new season is promised to have more episodes than its previous one which only had three and aired in 2019. The new episodes are also slated to be “more cinematic in scope” and will have feature film production value.

The Charlie Brooker created anthology series premiered on Netflix in 2011 after the streaming service acquired the rights from the U.K. broadcaster Channel 4 originated program. Since then it became one of Netflix’s greatest series releasing an interactive episode, earning six Emmys, and featuring a stellar cast over the seasons with big names like Michaela Coel, Daniel Kaluuya, Hayley Atwell, Jon Hamm, Bryce Dallas Howard, Wyatt Russell, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Mackenzie Davis, Miley Cyrus, Anthony Mackie, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Jesse Plemons, Rosemarie DeWitt, Alice Eve, Cristin Millioti, Angourie Rice, Damson Idris, Letitia Wright, and so many more.

I will say season five didn’t rank high for me in regards to favorite episodes. They had some interesting concepts, but they didn’t stand out to me or were that memorable. I’m hoping the upcoming season will bring the essence back to the initial first seasons because they were amazing.

Who would you want to see in season six of Black Mirror? What kind of plots would you want to see explored? Share your thoughts in the comments.
