Let me just say it. “Come on Barbie, let’s go party!”
Movie lovers got a first look at the very anticipated “Barbie” live-action movie this week with the release of the first image of Margot Robbie as the title character Barbie during Warner Bros. CinemaCon presentation in Las Vegas this week.
Seemingly in the midst of the Barbie world, Robbie smiles in a pink convertible dressed in a blue polka dot outfit. Directed by Greta Gerwig and screenplay by Noah Baumbach, the film’s plot is being kept under wraps, but I swear I read somewhere that it had something to do with Barbie getting kicked out of Barbie world and having to fend for herself in the “real world,” or something like that.
What I do know is that this cast is stacked with everyone you could want in a movie. Ryan Gosling is playing Ken because obviously! Emma Mackey aka Margot Robbie’s long lost twin, Will Ferrell, Simu Liu, America Ferrera, Kate McKinnon, Michael Cera, Alexandra Shipp, Issa Rae, Ritu Arya, Emerald Fennell, Hari Nef, Jamie Demetriou, Rhea Perlman, Ariana Greenblatt, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Connor Swindells, Scott Evans, Ncuti Gatwa, Sharon Rooney, and Ana Cruz Kayne all have roles in the “Barbie” live-action project and this is a film I’ll be running to see.
“Barbie” is expected to release in theaters July 21, 2023.
What do you think about the first look at Margot Robbie as Barbie? Will you be checking out this film when it hits theaters? Share your thoughts in the comments.
