These two, gumshoes…are coming out of retirement!

Disney Plus is bringing the infamous chipmunk detectives Chip and Dale to live-action glory in their upcoming film “Chip ‘n’ Dale: Rescue Rangers.” With the official trailer released this week, many are already comparing the film to “Who Framed Roger Rabbit” since both films combine a world where toon and humans live amongst each other. I for one enjoyed “Who Framed Roger Rabbit” and wouldn’t mind living in a cartoon world, so I’m pretty excited about this film.

John Mulaney and Andy Samberg star as Chip and Dale in the film and have turned to two very different lifestyles after the cancellation of their popular TV series. Living in a modern-day Los Angeles where humans and cartoons co-exist, Chip has become an insurance salesman and Dale refreshed his look with CGI surgery and frequents conventions to bask in his glory days. The former detectives mend their friendship and come out of retirement when a former castmate, among other toons, mysteriously disappears. Will these two pick up the slack and solve the case?

KiKi Layne, Will Arnett, Eric Bana, Flula Borg, Dennis Haysbert, Keegan-Michael Key, Tress MacNeille, Tim Robinson, Seth Rogen, J.K. Simmons, and Chris Parnell all have roles in the film.

“Chip ‘n’ Dale: Rescue Rangers” streams on Disney Plus Friday, May 20, 2022.
