Nothing Is Sweet About Hulu’s Upcoming True Crime Drama Series ‘Candy’ Starring Jessica Biel

Beware who you call your friends because they could be the very ones that play a part in your demise. Hulu’s upcoming series Candy will be proof of that notion.

Based on the true story, Jessica Biel stars as Candy Montgomery, a typical Texan housewife who ends up killing Betty Gore (Melanie Lynskey) – her friend from church – with an ax in 1980. What could have possibly led up to such a heinous crime? The series will explore it. Biel does bare a striking resemblance to Montgomery so it’ll be interesting to see her really bring this story to light for those who, like myself, are unfamiliar.

In the official trailer for the series, we get to see glimpses of how Candy and Betty’s relationship went from good to bad, but not what really caused the snap that led to Candy murdering Betty. I’m not sure what the grip true crime dramas have on us, but I’m hooked on this show and it didn’t even come out yet.

Timothy Simons, Pablo Schreiber, and Raúl Esparza also star in Candy. The five-night event premieres Monday, May 9 on Hulu.
