GGB’s 25 Days of Christmas Watch List: “To Grandmother’s House We Go”

Everyone’s inner child comes to life during Christmas and I’m no different. If we’re being honest my inner child comes to life often if I’m feeling down. You can ask my family and they’ll tell you how much I stayed in front of the TV when I was younger so when I think about many happy memories a lot of them come from the feelings I got watching something on TV. Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen were a big part of my childhood and their made-for-TV movies were iconic! On December 6, 1992 “To Grandmother’s House We Go” premiered so it’s a perfect time to throw it back with this gem for GGB’s 25 Days of Christmas Watch List.

In To Grandmother’s House We Go,” Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen play Sarah and Julie, twin daughters to overworked, single mom Rhonda (Cynthia Geary). The girls decide to give their mom a break by running away to grandma’s house for Christmas only to be kidnapped later on by a few bandits who are high jacking delivery trucks. You gotta watch it to see how it got to that point. Will Sarah and Julie ever make it to Grandma’s?

One of the reasons I love this movie so much is because it’s so 90’s. The way movies were shot back then and the many plot holes that make the story ridiculous is the essence of why it’s so special. I brought the movie off iTunes a few years ago because it’s something I would love to show my kids one day and it’s something for me to watch when I want to be brought back to my childhood. Where to watch: Amazon Prime $2.99 (rent) $7.99 (buy)
