The holidays are truly not complete until I see “Home Alone” a few times, but this season Disney wants to bring the classic tale that Macaulay Culkin brought to life by playing Kevin McCallister in the ’90’s to a new generation with a reimagining.
“Home Sweet Home Alone” will follow the same premise of the original storyline. A kid gets left home alone when his parents forget him and travel out of town for Christmas. While the mom races home to her son, a pair of criminals take the opportunity to rob the homes of people on vacation. Hijinks ensue.
Since I’m a hardcore lover of the original “Home Alone” it’s hard for me to get into a new version of the movie. Outside of “Home Alone 2,” the other following films have been trash, but since they are for a newer, younger audience I can admit that I’m not the target demographic so my opinion shouldn’t hold that much weight if it’s good or not. With that being said, I do love a holiday movie and since I have Disney+ I’ll watch until I can’t take it anymore. The saving grace for me is that Devin Ratray will be reprising his role as Buzz McCallister.
Ellie Kemper, Rob Delaney, Archie Yates, Aisling Bea, Kenan Thompson, Tim Simons, Pete Holmes, Devin Ratray, Ally Maki, and Chris Parnell all appear in “Home Sweet Home Alone” debuting exclusively on Disney+ November 12, 2021.
