My favorite social media app (TWITTER) never fails to put me on to some good entertainment! I saw Squid Game trending about a week ago on Twitter and I naturally clicked the hashtag to see what it was. People were boasting about a new Netflix show and I was in between finding something new and watching the same ole same ole, so I went to the streaming service to see what the hype was about.
I went in knowing nothing like I didn’t see a trailer or anything. The 9 episode drama brings together hundreds (456 to be exact) of players who are facing extreme financial hardships. They are promised the opportunity to win a life-changing cash prize (40-million dollars) if they compete in children’s games. Only they don’t know how deadly the “games” are. This is a Korean drama so you’ll have to dub the series if you aren’t fluent, but that didn’t take away from how engulfed I was for this show.
It did start a little slow for me, but I guess we needed to get to know the characters before entering the games. Once inside the show picked up for sure and I don’t recall when I’ve been so stressed watching a show. Squid Game is such a thrill ride with an open-ended finale that could lead to a season 2. I thoroughly enjoyed the show and word around town is that Squid Game is becoming Netflix’s highest-rated series ever! Goes to show you the power of the binge watcher.
Watch the trailer for Squid Game in the clip below. Does this seem like a show you’d be into? If you watched already how do you think you’d do in the games? Share your thoughts in the comments.
