Listen Carefully: Jake Gyllenhaal Plays A 911 Operator Faced With A Dire Situation

Netflix has an upcoming crime thriller starring Jake Gyllenhaal that from the looks of the teaser trailer is giving Halle Berry’s “The Call” mixed with the 2004 film “Cellular.”

Gyllenhaal stars in “The Guilty” as Joe Baylor, a troubled police detective who has been demoted to a 911 operator. He receives a troubling phone call from a woman in distress “during a harrowing day of revelations and reckonings.” The teaser doesn’t give too much away which is good because this plot seems pretty cut and dry, but I’m hoping a major plot twist will be thrown in this film somewhere.

This film has an impressive supporting cast. Ethan Hawke, Paul Dano, Riley Keough, Peter Sarsgaard, Bill Burr, Beau Knapp, and Christina Vidal appear in “The Guilty” streaming only on Netflix on October 1, 2021.
