“And who am I? That’s a secret I’ll never tell.”

The super-rich lifestyle of the privileged and elite of the Upper East Side in New York City is getting an inclusive revamp for the HBO Max original Gossip Girl, a reboot of The CW’s greatest claim to fame which ran from 2007-2012 starring Blake Lively, Penn Badgley, Leighton Meester, Ed Westwick, Chace Crawford, and more.

Frank Ocean’s “Super Rich Kids” off his 2012 Channel Orange album is heard throughout the official trailer for the reboot as the characters are established and viewers get a glimpse into the new version of the UES we are about to indulge in. The HBO Max series will have 10 episodes and will follow a new generation of private high school teens whose lives are constantly documented and reported on by the anonymous Gossip Girl (voiced once again by Kristen Bell).

I’ve been super vocal about my apprehensions on this reboot. I simply adore the original series. Sure it had its problematic moments, but it still gave me everything I need. The original version was giving Chanel and Madison Avenue, this reboot is giving Shein and Times Square. I thought the trailer would convince me otherwise, but it still hasn’t. I’m going to have to watch a full episode to really be convinced that this reboot isn’t a terrible idea and I won’t have to wait too much longer.

Gossip Girl comes to HBO Max Thursday, July 8.
