300 years in the making, R.L. Stine’s “Fear Street” is coming to Netflix in a three-part movie series starting July 2 and longtime fans of Stine’s work are freaking out on social media.

Netflix has advertised the film event as “Three Movies. Three Weeks. One Killer Story.” Starting in 1994 in “Fear Street Part One,” a group of teens realizes the terrifying events that have weighed on their town of Shadyside for generations are connected and they may be the next victims. Part two takes viewers to 1978 and then to 1666 to wrap up the series.

As much as I loved R.L. Stine growing up and enjoyed Goosebumps and The Nightmare Room I never heard of Fear Street and rumor has it the films will be rated R. The books are notoriously gorier and violent compared to any of R.L. previous work, so the R rating is a must and seems like the movie series will stick close to the source material.

“Fear Street Part One: 1994” premieres on July 2, “Fear Street Part Two: 1978” premieres on July 9, and “Fear Street Part Three: 1666” premieres on July 16. Spooky Season is heating up the summer a few months early.
