Cue the drum roll and flipping diaper: the babies are back!
Tommy, Angelica, Chuckie, Phil, Lil, and Susie aka The Rugrats will be back on the small screen in a new CG-animated series. The Rugrats series premiered August 11, 1991 and ran until 2006 along with three films and a spin off series that ran for five seasons featuring the characters as teens. The reboot will bring the Rugrats back as toddlers in brand new adventures for Paramount+, the new name for the CBS All Access streaming platform which launches March 4. The show will premiere this spring.
In the first look at the show Angelica is doing one of the things she’s most infamous for, manipulating one of the babies to get them to do what she wants. Noticeably missing from the clip was baby Dil. Maybe he was off sleeping or something. The positive side to this series is that all the original voice actors of the iconic characters are returning. So although the little sprouts may not look how us 90’s kids remember at least they’ll sound exactly the same.
