Fans of “The Best Man” films you’re in for a treat. Peacock, NBCUniversal’s streaming service, ordered a 10-episode limited series of the Malcolm D. Lee written and directed franchise entitled: The Best Man: The Final Chapters; according to Deadline.
Taye Diggs, Terrence Howard, Harold Perrineau, Morris Chestnut, Sanaa Lathan, Nia Long, Melissa De Sousa and Regina Hall are all slated to reprise their roles and return for the series which is expected to begin filming in September. Lee will be back of course as the writer and director. Sean Daniel and Dayna Lynee North will serve as executive producers along with Lee.
“Here we go! The band is back together! I am very excited to bring these iconic characters back to the fans who have supported us through this franchise. We are thrilled to deliver everything one would expect from this group of friends in The Best Man universe and take them through their final chapters. We can’t wait! I told you it wouldn’t be 14 more years,” Lee said.
Back in 2016 “The Best Man Wedding” was green lit, but nothing came of it. I guess now The Best Man: The Final Chapters will be that missed opportunity. The dramatic-comedy series will catch up with the main characters and how they evolved during the stages of their mid lives. Monica Calhoun will be noticeable missing from the series whose character died in the 2013 film “The Best Man Holiday.” Will it still have the same vibe?
