‘Sex and the City’ Returns To HBO With Revival Series For Streaming Service Here's The Kicker - It's Without Samantha

New York never goes out of style and one of the staple NYC themed shows is coming back with a revival many fans are excited for, but with one key element missing there’s a bittersweet vibe.

For years a Sex and the City reboot was in talks. The series wrapped in 2004 after six seasons and two feature films came years later in 2008 and 2010. After the final film fans still wanted more, but when Kim Cattrall, who played Samantha Jones in the franchise, publicly came out shunning her cast members and her experience on the show it was very clear she would have nothing to do with SATC moving forward. So did that mean a reunion of any sorts would never happen? Nope, SATC lives on just without Sam.

On Sunday, January 10, it was announced that a SATC revival series would be coming to HBO Max with Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis reprising their roles in the new show titled And Just Like That. On Instagram SJP posted a video captioned, “I couldn’t help but wonder… where are they now? X, SJ @HBOMax @JustLikeThatMax #AndJustLikeThat #SATCNextChapter.” The other ladies reposted the video to their feeds sharing their excitement.

And Just Like That will have ten half hour episodes and is said to show how Carrie (Parker), Miranda (Nixon), and Charlotte (Davis) navigates love and friendship in their 50’s. The show is scheduled to start production in New York in late spring. No further casting news has been revealed at the moment.

“I can’t help but wonder” how will Samantha’s absence be explained? And where exactly will the series pick up from? Will it be close to events after SATC 2 or are we in current times? I must admit I would kind of hate that. I know we are in the midst of a pandemic, but I want at least one reality where the pandemic isn’t happening and not the focus of a fictional world.

Watch the teaser for And Just Like That in the clip below. Are you excited to see Carrie, Miranda, and Charlotte back on your screen? Will the show be the same without Samantha? Share your thoughts in the comments.
