Season 46 of Saturday Night Live returned live from New York this weekend with the much anticipated debut of Jim Carrey tapping into his new role of playing Joe Biden on the iconic sketch comedy series.

Chris Rock hosted the premiere with Megan Thee Stallion as the musical guest. The show had a cold open recreating the first presidential debate that took place between Donald Trump and Joe Biden on September 29th. If you watched the entire debate or even saw clips of it then you know it was an utter shit show to say the least. Naturally that would make for a hilarious SNL bit.

SNL cast member Beck Bennett played the role of moderator Chris Wallace with Alec Baldwin making his triumphant return as Trump and Carrey stepping in as Biden. Maya Rudolph later joined the skit as Kamala Harris, reprising her beloved role.

We all know Alec Baldwin absolutely kills it as Trump, I mean he did win a Primetime Emmy for it, but Carrey as Biden was the wild card that paid off. His mannerisms and voice is spot on and the best thing about the actual debate was that this SNL recreation could happen.

Watch SNL recreate the disastrous first presidential debate in the clip below. How did Alec and Jim do? Share your thoughts in the comments.
