I love a good thriller. Let’s just get that out there now and with the pandemic there hasn’t been any good ones coming to theaters or available on video on demand until now thanks to Dave Franco.
Franco makes his directorial debut with “The Rental” starring his wife and actress Alison Brie, Dan Stevens, Sheila Vand and Jeremy Allen White. Co-written by Franco and Joe Swanberg, the film follows two couples who plan a celebratory weekend getaway at a remote ocean side rental home after securing start up money for a business venture.
Tensions arise when secrets between the group start to unravel, the homeowner is giving super creep vibes, and from the trailer I can tell some infidelity is involved. A few things I really think I’m going to like about this movie is that the trailer didn’t give too much away. It built a nice level of suspence for me to what to know how this ends. I also love that it’s $5.99 to rent on Amazon Prime, a dollar more on iTunes, you know actual normal movie theater prices. A lot of these films that have went straight to VOD because of the pandemic were $20 to rent, TO RENT. That’s insane, so thanks to all involved with “The Rental” for making that happen.
I’ll be checking this film out once I’m done my current movie binge, so be sure to hit up my socials for feedback.
