The year 2018 was a good year for Netflix and teen rom-coms. First in May, “The Kissing Booth” starring Joey King, Joel Courtney, and a pre HBO Euphoria Jacob Elordi dropped and sent everyone into a frenzy. Trust me, it was a trending social media topic. Then in August, Lana Condor and Noah Centineo’s “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before” released and deemed Noah the “internet boyfriend” from all the thirst he got from that movie. Teen rom-coms were on the rise and Netflix jumped on the train lining up sequels for both projects.
Fast forward to 2020 and “The Kissing Booth 2” is set to drop later this month. I had an idea about what the first film was about but it was such a long time ago since I saw it. Thanks to Joey King, Joel Courtney, and Netflix I got the recap I needed and now you do too. [See below]
“The Kissing Booth 2” essentially picks up where the first film left off. Noah (Elordi) is off at college and trying to make his relationship work with Elle (King) who has brought back the school’s kissing booth with her bestie and Noah’s younger brother Lee (Courtney) for their senior year. Insert the love triangle: new guy Marco (Taylor Zakhar Perez) comes into the picture to shake the whole movie up. High school, a long distance relationship, deciding your future…what could go wrong?
Get ready to lock lips once more when “The Kissing Booth 2” premieres on Netflix July 24.
