I can’t even begin to explain how long I’ve been waiting for new music from Raleigh Ritchie. I discovered his music from a rabbit hole of YouTube videos looking up Game of Thrones content. Ritchie’s real name is Jacob Anderson and he played Greyworm of GOT. YouTube suggested one video that featured a song of his then I hopped on Apple Music to listen to his debut album You’re a Man Now, Boy. That album released in 2016, “Life in a Box” made me fall in love with him as an artist and then my obsession began.

Andy, Raleigh Ritchie’s second album named after his grandfather, released on Friday, June 26 with 12 tracks showing off Ritchie’s growth as an artist. The self-proclaimed “Sadboi” took his time to create his second album and explained on Twitter. “Second albums are weird. The difficult second album cliche is real shit. There’s an expectation on you based on what you’ve done before, but also an expectation that you’ll do something different. You put all the pressure on yourself to maintain what makes you special but still evolve. I guess what I’m saying is you can overthink these things,” he wrote in an extensive note.

It took 18 months after Ritchie’s first album to even feel inspired to write music and then he proceeded to work on Andy for 2 years. “I hope your relationship with this album is as complicated and simple and instant and slow burn as mine was making it.” I guess it’s true, great things really do take time.

Andy is availavle now for digital purchase and streaming services with CD/Vinyls coming soon.

Check out a few of the songs from Andy that have been in heavy rotation for me in the clips below. How are feeling this music? Share your thoughts in the comments.
