The entertainment industry has been forever changed because of the global pandemic. Production on just about any and everything is at a halt in a limbo state when things will be able to pick back up safely. Many films that were expecting to premiere this year or even early next have been pushed. Now with movie theaters closed indefinitely streaming services are saving the day.
“The Lovebirds” starring Issa Rae and Kumail Nanjiani was first slated to come to theaters earlier this month, but with the growing uncertainty of COVID-19 the film has become a Netflix Original and will premiere on the streaming service in late May.
In the film Leilani (Rae) and Jibran (Nanjiani) are embarking on what was suppose to be a normal date night until they find themselves in the midst of a murder mystery where they become unintentional accomplices. Can their relationship, and they themselves, survive the ordeal? Find out next month.
Check out “The Lovebirds” only on Netflix May 22.
