“Our Time Is Now” – Watch The Official Trailer For ‘Antebellum’ Starring Janelle Monáe

The upcoming film “Antebellum” asks the question “what if fate chose you to save us from our past?” Intriguing question with an even more intriguing plot. Janelle Monáe stars in the Gerard Bush and Christopher Renz written and directed horror film in theaters next month.

In the official trailer for the film not too much is given away which is how all good movie trailers should be. Monáe stars as Veronica, a successful author who somehow gets transported to a horrifying reality. That reality appears to be back when black people were enslaved by white people. One thing I noticed about the posters with this film is the use of butterflies. So I did my research.

Butterflies have a deep relation to life. In many cultures the butterfly is connected to our souls; specifically in Christian religion the butterfly is a symbol of resurrection. Very fitting for this film as it seems Monáe’s character is going back in time. I’m intrigued.
