I remember when I first watched the movie “Saw.” It was when my dad brought home the DVD from Blockbuster, yeah I’m THAT old and I hope it wasn’t a VHS. I was intrigued by the slow burn of the film and completely blown away by the major twist ending. This was the type of horror I adore. Up until the third installment I was very into the twists and turns the “Saw” movies were giving, but then the series got lost to me with the unneccesary sequels and the mushy timelines; yet here we are in 2020 and the games are beginning again.
The “Saw” franchise has hit reset on the next chapter, very fitting since the film title has book in it. Chris Rock’s executive produced and written “Spiral: From the Book of Saw” just released the first trailer and it’s a must see if you are even remotely a fan of the previous films. The actual plot of the film has been kept under wraps and only described as a “re-imaging” of “Saw.” The first trailer is giving little to nothing away other than Chris Rock is a cop, Samuel L. Jackson is Samuel L. Jackson, and the new deadly game is targeting members of the police force. The minute I heard that iconic “Hello Zep” music I smiled and since I watched ever other film in the franchise why stop now.
“Spiral: From the Book of Saw” comes to theaters May 15, 2020.
Watch the first trailer for the film in the clip below. Are you willing to open another chapter to the “Saw” franchise? Let me know in the comments.
