Since Super Bowl 2020 took place in Miami it was fitting for two of the biggest Latin artists to take the Pepsi Halftime stage to perform a medley of hits to represent their culture. Shakira and Jennifer Lopez were announced as the Halftime performers in February of last year and shortly after I’m sure the planning for what to bring to their moment on the biggest sports night of the year was in heavy flow.
The little over 14-minute performance opened with Shakira, then JLo, followed by the duo taking the stage together to conclude their halftime show. Hit songs like “She Wolf,” “Hips Don’t Lie,” “Jenny From the Block,” “Waiting For Tonight,” and “Let’s Get Loud” were among the high energy playlist.
Along with Lopez’s 11-year-old daughter Emme joining the stage with a solo part, rapper Bad Bunny and singer J Balvin also were featured in the #LatinoGang performance that many praised as a redeeming show compared to the last two years (Maroon 5 -2019/Justin Timberlake -2018). I think the ladies did a great job and I would love to see more pairing acts moving forward for the Halftime shows.
