Here’s an anti-hero origin story I would actually pay to see.
Over the weekend David Harbour hosted Saturday Night Live with musical guest Camila Cabello. The Stranger Things actor poked fun at the Sci-Fi series in his opening monologue, but it was a parody sketch of an Oscar buzz movie that was the episode’s highlight.
Joaquin Phoenix’s film “Joker” has been receiving nothing but critic acclamation and raved audience reviews, so of course SNL would take a chance to steal some of the hype with a brilliant parody that showed the origin story of a Sesame Street character, Oscar the Grouch.
Starting off as a trash man, slowly the Grouch became the mean character he’s known for on the children’s program, but in a gritty set Sesame Street universe on SNL. Everything and I mean everything about this sketch was amazing. I’ve watched it a few times now and still laugh as if I never saw it; especially at the Bert and Ernie part.
Watch David Harbour become the Grouch in the clip from Saturday Night Live in the clip below. What do you think about this parody? Share your thoughts in the comments.
