Lesley Gore’s “You Don’t Own Me” has been a staple in pop culture for a while. Since the release in 1963 the song has been covered by numerous artists and famously sung by Bette Midler, Diane Keaton and Goldie Hawn in the 1996 film “The First Wives Club.” Now singer-actress Kristin Chenoweth is putting her spin on the track with some help from my favorite girl.

Chenoweth released her version of “You Don’t Own Me” featuring Ariana Grande from her newly released album For the Girls. The lyrics and essence of the track remain the same about a woman refusing to be possessed by a man in any way, but Chenoweth and Grande put their sultry sprinkles on the song making me love it even more. Grace’s cover of the track is another fav of mine.

On Twitter the ladies traded love about being able to work together on the song. Grande tweeted, “I have always loved you and i always will @kchenoweth 🖤 congratulations on your new album and thank you from the bottom of my heart for having me be a part ! i truly can’t put into words how much it means to me ! i truly can’t believe this is even real https://found.ee/KC_YouDontOwnMe.”

Chenoweth shared the same sentiments posting, “You are my baby and i love you. I couldn’t be more proud of you. Thank you for blessing the works with your gift. And for being on my record. I love you very much.”

For the Girls album is now available for purchase and digital download. Watch the lyric video for Kristin Chenoweth “You Don’t Own Me” featuring Ariana Grande in the clip below. How do you like the girls take on the classic track? Share your thoughts in the comments.
