The first song from the 2019 “Charlie’s Angels” film starring Kristen Stewart, Naomi Scott, Ella Balinska, and Elizabeth Banks has been released and it features a trio from a variety of music genres.
Ariana Grande, Miley Cyrus, and Lana Del Rey have been enlisted to deliver the lead single from the film’s soundtrack. “Don’t Call Me Angel” dropped Friday the 13th with an accompanying music video directed by Hannah Lux Davis; longtime collaborator of Ariana’s.
Grande opens the track with sultry vocals of the chorus followed by Miley Cyrus delivering her verse. AG follows with the chorus once more and her verse, then Lana Del Rey saves the song with her bridge. As much as I love Ariana, Lana’s part is the only one I’m really feeling and that’s not really saying too much because I don’t care that much for the song at all. While all the ladies sound good it’s not a strong stand alone single to get people amped up for an upcoming film and soundtrack.
A fan on Twitter mentioned how the song authentically sounds like each artist. Which is true. The girls stayed true to their artistic sound, but I don’t think it worked as a cohesive piece. The lyrics are all over the place, but I do kind of like the beat. That’s a positive right?
“Charlie’s Angels” comes to theaters November 15th.
