Emilia Clarke Plays A Cynical Christmas Shop Worker Bewitched By Handsome Stranger in ‘Last Christmas’

Cue the Game of Thrones and “Crazy Rich Asians” puns and jokes because this holiday season Emilia Clarke and Henry Golding are starring in the Paul Feig directed “Last Christmas.”

Nodded from the George Michael written, Wham! performed, classic holiday tune, “Last Christmas” follows Kate (Clarke) as a disdained Christmas shop worker dressed as an elf just trying to get through life. With her health in jeopardy and no real joy in her life, Kate meets Tom (Golding), a handsome, mysterious stranger she seems to keep bumping into. Could this be the thing in Kate’s life that can finally go right?

Now with the trailer out many are anticipating a twist in the plot and have offered up their theories. Popular ones that have infested the internet include: Tom being an angel sent to watch over Kate, Kate has the heart of someone close to Tom playing on the “last Christmas I gave you my heart” lyric in the popular holiday song, or Tom could be a figment of Kate’s imagination in general since he doesn’t interact with anyone else in the trailer. No matter the theories the general consensus is that people are excited for this movie and since I love the holiday season I guess I am too.

Emma Thompson also stars in the movie and unreleased music from George Michael will be included in the film.

“Last Christmas” premieres in theaters November 8th.
