What the Hallmark Channel has done for holiday movies and Lifetime has done for “the nanny, neighbor, teacher, long-lost twin, etc” is a killer movies; Netflix is bringing back the coveted rom-com era aka romantic comedies. The streaming service seems to debut a series of them every quarter and the latest one catching the attention of viewers is “Falling Inn Love” starring Christina Milian.
In “Falling Inn Love” Milian plays Gabriela, woman who lost her job and boyfriend and in an attempt to shake things up in her life enters a sweepstakes and wins a rustic New Zealand inn. Gabriela packs up her things and hops a 13 hour flight only to find out the inn is more of a fixer upper than she anticipated. With some help from local contractor Jake Taylor (Adam Demos), Gabriela intends to flip and sell the property fast, yet she finds herself falling inn love *snickers*, not only with the handsome Kiwi contractor, but the low-key life she’s establishing in New Zealand. Will she return to the familiar in the states or embrace what could be in New Zealand?
This is like a secret fantasy of mine. Packing up everything of value to me and just getting away in a foreign environment to live a simple life. It’ll be interesting to see how this story really plays out.
“Falling Inn Love” streams only on Netflix August 29. Watch the official trailer for the film in the clip below. Will you be tuning into this rom-com? Let me know your thoughts in the comments.
