Arianators we are living in an era where Ariana Grande just drops music whenever she wants to and I’m glad to be living in this era. Not only did the 26-year-old drop two albums in a six month span, but she released the “Monopoly” single in April with her good friend Victoria Monet as a thank you to fans and now she dropped “Boyfriend” with Social House; frequent collaborators of Grande (They produced “thank u, next) and Sweetener tour mates.

On the track, Grande and Social House sing about the typical millennial relationship, or should I say “situationship.” A guy and girl who are not together, but they’re together and just don’t want to put that label on it to really set boundaries for the relationship. In the music video Mike of Social House (Michael Foster) plays the object of Ariana’s affection as she imagines jealous attacks on women Mike speaks with throughout the video. Scootie (Charles Anderson), the other half of the producing/music duo, plays an on-looker to the mayhem the couple causes; all the while everyone is delivering vocals.

I don’t hate the track. I think Ariana’s voice is meant for R&B and I’m happy when she does more tracks to show off that side of her voice, but I’m not 100% in love with it. I’ll stick with streaming the song on Apple Music until it grows on me.

Watch the music video for Ariana Grande and Social House’s “Boyfriend” track. The song is also available for digital download and on streaming services. How do you like the single? Will the team perform it when the Sweetener World Tour continues? Share your thoughts in the comments.
